003 : Darkest dungeon: Vertical Slice

In this project, we created a vertical slice of the game Darkest Dungeon, where we focused mainly on recreating the combat system as accurately as possible. I worked together with a different group of developers and game artists to replicate the core elements of the game’s battle mechanics.

We were given a short gameplay clip and tasked with recreating everything we saw to the best of our abilities while turning it into a complete gameplay loop. My main responsibility was laying the foundation for the combat by developing a turn system that kept track of whose turn it was and what actions they could take. I achieved this by using enums and state management to handle different turn phases.

I also contributed to the health and damage systems by integrating and combining them with the turn system, as well as assisting with art implementation. Our team worked very hard on this project, and I’m really happy with how it turned out — at first glance, you can hardly tell it’s a copy!
